It's Friday......

Clocks and books are all over our house....one day soon I will take some pictures of the clocks we have....books too are another favorite design friend.....I thought I would take you along on a tour of our bedroom.....this clock and stack of books sit on our bedside cabinet.....

This is the wall to your left as you walk in we added the mantle and the Vermont Castings Stove
This quilt was a find at a yard sale for five dollars last summer we were out with my sister I love it...
This is the other side of the room......our house was built in 1941....it is short on closet space ...so I use the Ar moire for additional storage for clothes ...blankets and such....
I love changing things up ....switching accessories ....pillows.........pictures...moving furniture around...it is always a process... each new idea is like an adventure....my sweetie has a great eye...he is extremely creative too...... we both enjoy CREATING OUR HOME.....many Saturday mornings as we're drinking our coffee we have made one another laugh by saying..." I HAVE AN IDEA".......at the same time....I appreciate his input so much....when we had our store in North Carolina we worked as a team to create displays .....choose our product.......hoping to engage all the senses...so our customers would FEEL SPECIAL.... .....that experience has washed over to creating a home that provides us with a bit of....BLISS...I will share some other pictures of our humble little home another day.........for now I thank you for stopping by.....I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.......blessings to you girls........Karena

Always an inspiration.....

1920's & 30's
Movies were fabulous
Bungalow's were showing up in Kit's from Sears and Montgomery Wards
Furniture and Room Design were unique demure ...full of charm

These photos were courtesy of Antique Home style and Good Housekeeping....These are the links....http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/family/books/early-magazine-covers

I've mentioned in other posts that I love old movies from the 30's....that decade stands out for the charming ....quaint.....reduced scale of furniture and design that showed up....bathrooms  began being a work of art at this time ... the wall paper was sweet with small prints ....lots of cabbage roses........rooms were appointed with bead board...wainscoting.....chair rails and crown molding....the fireplaces were grand in appearance but demure in stature....The windows were dressed in panels and Priscilla curtains...but my favorite 30's look is the furniture....it was at this time that large estate type furnishings were created in a much smaller scale......chairs....tables....upholstered pieces were......... ADORABLE......they were painted in the classic green .....pink...blue and rose that we come to think of as the classic 1930's color's...some of the uniqueness of style actually began in the late 20's....I am consistently ....OVER THE MOON...whenever I see anything from that era.....furniture.......lamps.......pictures.....mirrors....rugs....if you pay attention to the things we all seem to be attracted to when we're ...."HUNTING VINTAGE".....much of it comes from this charming time of our history........I THINK IT IS BRILLIANT.........hope you all have a wonderful day....it's cooled off here ......thunder storms last night lowered the temp's by 15 or more degrees...YEA....I am so glad you stopped by....blessings and hugs to you girls..........Karena

My Friends in the Garden........ .

It has been ......HOT....HOT .....HOT....in my neck of the woods for 3 days......over 98 degrees which means the heat index has felt like 104.....I just came in from watering the garden ...poor little flower friends they all looked like they just got done running a race ......they are droopy...wilted...thirsty ...an all together  unhappy grouping of flora and fauna....I  gave each one of them a HUGE drink of water... as I sit in my chair next to the window I can see them already starting to perk up......I think sometimes the things we do that seem mundane are really a wonderful analogy of life.......do you ever feel....WILTED....DROOPY....THIRSTY....for God's presence ....wishing for a huge drink of his perfect peace and understanding....I know I do...I know in my heart that he is always there to sustain me...teach me ...that he will lift me up when I am tired if I just LOOK for him ...expect him....and praise him when I realize he's there...if flowers could think they would know I WILL BE THERE EACH MORNING TO WATER THEM.....they would trust........well they can't think but I can.....for today my thought  will be this.......

He shall
give His angels charge over you, To keep you in
all your ways. ( Psalms 91:11 )

I pray you each have a wonderful day girls...stay cool....thank you so much for popping in....

Tuesday Afternoon Update.....

I arrived at my interview on time.......filled out the paper work.....watched a video....then the interviewer came in to chat........REMEMBER when I said if I got the job it would be a huge praise....if I did not get the job it would be ANOTHER KIND OF PRAISE......well it's the latter .......the position was not for me....this time...but I am PRAISING THE LORD.....for the experience of interviewing.....gathering references.... driving to a part of town I wasn't familiar with....I am " IN HIS WILL".......waiting on his TIMING....so for now that's enough...I have some things to do around here ...like take care of the "kids"......(pets)....so I will say good-by for now...I appreciate your being there to come home to..
God bless you girls...

Monday Morning Blessings..........

I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The
Lord is my rock and my fortress and my
deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom
I will trust; My shield and the horn of my
salvation, my stronghold.
