Did I Do That.....

Good Morning beautiful ladies....it's Friday .........yeah...another weekend for all of us to enjoy...this morning I am waking up with such a sense of accomplishment yesterday with the help of  debbiedoos.blogspot.com/ and her wonderful tutorials I worked ALL DAY (and I mean all day) trying to make a button for my blog...I started this adventure at 8:00 am...I ended the effort at 9:30 pm I was determined to overcome my "NEWBIE" fears and try to use my big girl self to take this small step...so here's the thing the button is on my side bar...the text is under it...the only thing I can't seem to fix are the words above that say ....BLOG TITLE...if any of you have solutions to what I may have missed or how to fix it I would be eternally grateful...I know the button is smallish but truthfully the original was HUGE it took me all day to get that re-sized....Anyway I just had to share with you all I am thankful and happy to have created my first button even though it isn't perfect...thank you also to Diana from http://thenanadiana.blogspot.com/ for her friendship in this...I asked her for any advice she could give me for making a blog button.......she sure came through...THANK YOU DIANA...I hope you all have a wonderful weekend...thank you so much for stopping by....blessings and hugs ...Karena

Remembering 9-11......

I couldn't start a post about anything else this morning then the anniversary of 9-11....I have seen images on PBS heard survivor's speak and seen the New Tower on the news here all week. I don't think a post on anything else would be appropriate .... So sweet blog sisters lets take some time together to remember the... SOULS LOST...THE LIVES CHANGED....THE HERO'S OF THAT DAY....seeing the images of that fateful morning reminde's me we are Americans ...a people united in our beleifs and affection for this great land we live in....Lord I pray blessings this morning on all the family's remembering a loved one....for all the people that sacrificed their lives helping save lives....I pray Lord for the ones that wake up EVERYDAY with the memory of those moments...because they LIVED them... that you would touch their lives in a mighty way Lord...give them YOUR PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING....Sunday will be a VERY hard day for so many...the rest of us can be with them in our hearts ....bathing them in prayer....believing you have a plan of healing ....for all of us......Amen God bless you today ladies.....Karena

Precious Gifts from Above....

This plant was dropped into a bucket I put outside when we moved here a year ago...over time it began growing a bush like leafy plant early in the spring....I liked the leaf so I left it alone...on Monday I noticed all these little berry's are popping out everywhere thank you Lord for your amazing handiwork....

I am sad that this closeup is a little blurry...the wind was blowing as I took these pic's so It is what it is...still this flower was the biggest surprise to me..the flower has a dense dry feel to it like you could cut it...take the leaves off the stem and use it right away in a bouquet like straw flowers...

Here's a clearer shot of the whole plant...can you see that the flowers are blooming in different shades of pink...that so Karena....I just love anything pink....how did my bird friends know that....

Look at this wonderful Vinca...with white flowers no less I've noticed many clusters of these around the garden...I planted none of them...how amazing mother nature is...the birds eat the seeds...then leave them as they fly over...thank you ....

I wish you could see this sweet little yellow orange flower...I have no idea what it is but it blooms towards the end of the day...stays in bloom all night ...then it closes up towards mid day ....very pretty..

Good Morning girls...I'm up a little early this morning strolling around the garden before it gets too hot to enjoy it...I keep waiting every morning I walk out the back door to be greeted with the crisp cool air of fall....NOT YET...with 2 hurricanes sitting over this part of the country the Mid-Atlantic is feeling soupy and still this morning...BUT....while I was walking around I noticed something really special...our bird friends have brought some beautiful presents to us I've never noticed before...I spied with my little eye a cluster of new flowers in the garden..I took some pic's to share...

Celebrating the First Day of Shool.....

Hi there girls...I'm so happy you stopped by  I woke up thinking so many of you are kicking off the new school year with your kiddo's this morning...so exciting...I remember how new clothes were laid out when my little one was still small...the whole house was a-buzz with anticipation....the school bus had to be caught...or car pool's began rolling ....new friends were made...after school the all important question "How did you like your teacher" was always the first thing I asked...seems I remember that one question unlocked a "tumble" of  happy memories my little one was so excited to share....So my point is...ENJOY YOUR DAY TODAY....I will be praying for all of you and your little ones too that their first day of school is a great day in their memory and yours...don't forget to do something nice for yourself today.......blessings and BIG hugs.....Karena

Happy Labor Day girls...I hope your all having some fun this holiday even if it's just being at home "CREATING"...what's on my mind today is the fun of gathering things we've found at thrift stores yard sales flea markets or gleaned from friends...

Stool's I've found over time from many different places...but stacked together...they look like they belong....

Old post cards .....bed springs...a felt heart...glass doorknobs and of course books..create a display that makes me HAPPY

A bit of whimsy here in the bath....a sweet lamp wearing a shade from "Simply Shabby Chic" (Target)....pretties things up

On the wall of our bath one of my favorite oval  cottage prints....sitting inside a frame I found....

The radiator in the bath wears flowers..a mirror...a crystal bowl ...and my favorite fairy Tinkerbell...these things all come together ....the word I think is SERENDIPITY....an unexpected surprise.....you know what....I think all of you have been a big surprise to me too....your visit's...comments...and friendship are such a blessing...today I feel BLESSED....please stop by anytime big hugs to each of you....Karena

Quiet Isn't the Word for It.....

I know this is the last weekend of summer ....that family's all around the country are playing...swimming...picnicking and generally having FUN...I just have to say that in our neck of the woods it is....QUIET.....I think everyone has left town to enjoy this weekend after being cooped up last week because of Irene....I don't know if you agree girls but to me this summer flew by....the picture above is one of my favorites....it is a very summery "Cottage Scene" I had hanging in our bathroom...I have been busy taking the summer out and ushering in the calm...colorful...cool feel of fall into the house ....so before I take pictures to share with you I thought I'd show you some projects my sweetie and I are working on...

This chair is a great 40's find that has a droopy caved in seat...we are trying to fix it...after putting the springs straight...pushing them back into shape we have realized they are much to uncomfortable to sit on...they push you right back up out of the seat....oh darn....so now we have to take it apart for real...like take the springs out completely so we can see if that works ..then I will make a cushion for the seat ...maybe that will be better....but hey in every project there is a silver lining or in this case a rust one....ALL....these springs will make some great future projects for me....I HAVE IDEAS....

The other thing I've been pondering is what to plant in my bronze lady....isn't she fabulous....another of my favorite things...I'm thinking a big droopy Pansie will look wonderful and fall like dripping over her ....

Finally I noticed this morning that our Japanese Maple is turning color....I will take more pictures as Fall really sets in....the color of the leaves in fall turn..... BRIGHT RED...it's almost hard to comprehend the different shades of red mother nature creates on one tree....Well girls that's all for now...I'm heading up into the "CABIN IN OUR ATTIC"...to help organize some things.....have a Stunning Sunday....I am thinking of you......blessings and big hugs.....Karena
